Preliminary studies on tropical sawdust for plant propagation and growth.
1982
Olympio, N. S | Norman, J. C
The sawdust of 4 tropical timber species was weathered for 6 months. It was used separately or in mixture, or each mixture further mixed with loam or river sand (1:1), for striking Thuja orientalis and Callitris rhomboidea cuttings. C. rhomboidea rooted best in sawdust alone whereas T. orientalis did best in mixtures of sawdust and sand or loam. C. rhomboidea generally rooted much better than T. orientalis, especially in mahogany (Khaya senegalensis) or sapele (Entandrophragma utile) sawdust. Rooting was lowest in wawa (Triplochiton scleroxylon) sawdust.
