Effect of lime application on the nitrogen availability of peat soil

Inglés. The main problem of peat soil is the low fertility rate, low pH and high phenolic acid contents. The influence of phenolic acids on plants is delay or inhibition of seed germination, damage of root system, inhibition of nutrient absorption, chlorosis, stunted growth, withering and dead. Direct influence on plant growth would disturb the process of metabolism such as respiration, nucleic acid synthesis and protein synthesis. The objective of this study is to investigate the influence of polyphenol on the peat soil and related to the nitrogen resource. Result of the study indicated that the nitrogen and lime addition had significant effect on the polyphenol content, N total and pH on the peat water and peat soil after 48 days incubation. The addition of 45.1 g lime per pot could increase the pH of peat soil by 1.2. N-total content on peat water changed by treatment during incubation
Mostrar más [+] Menos [-]Indonesio. Permasalahan tanah gambut yang utama adalah tingkat kesuburan rendah, pH rendah dan kandungan asam fenol yang tinggi. Pengaruh asam fenol terhadap tanaman meliputi penundaan atau penghambatan pertunasan biji, perusakan sistem perakaran, penghambatan serapan hara, klorosis dan tanaman menjadi kerdil, layu dan mati. Pengaruh langsung terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman dapat mengganggu proses metabolisme seperti respirasi, sintesa asam nukleat dan sintesa protein. Penelitian dilaksanakan untuk mempelajari polifenol dalam tanah gambut dan hubungannya dengan penyediaan nitrogen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian N dan kapur berpengaruh nyata terhadap kadar polifenol, N total dan pH genangan air dan tanah gambut setelah 48 hari masa inkubasi. Pemberian 45.1 g kapur pot pangkat -1 mampu meningkatkan pH gambut sebesar 1.2. Kandungan N total dalam genangan air mengalami perubahan akibat perlakuan selama masa inkubasi
