Role of polyamine in ripening of solo papaya fruits (Carica papaya L.)

The experiment consists of four treatments: infiltration of papaya fruits before treatment with aquadest (control), putrescine 3 mM, spermidine 1 mM, and spermine 1 mM. The result showed that polyamine infiltration inhibited the change of fruit color, decrease of fruit weight, fruit softening, acid content, and total solid content during ripening process, that can postponed papaya ripening process between 12 to 15 days after treatment. The inhibitor effectivity by polyamine in order were: spermine, spermidine, and putrescine
