Increasing export of fruits and their value-added products
2003
Rathore, D.S. (College of Horticulture and Forestry, Pasighat (India))
Almost all kinds of fruits are grown in our country due to varied agro-ecological conditions, low production cost, and highly skilled and scientific manpower. The global demand for fruits and their value-added products is rising very fast. The establishment of the WTO has made it easier to access the world market. Since every nation is competing for a maximum share in the world market, the competition is bound to be stiff, requiring good quality produce at reasonable price. The National Agricultural Research System has endeavoured during the past years to increase both productivity and quality of fruits, and their products, says Professor Rathore.
