Phule Surekha: a new Frenchbean variety

Released by the State Variety Release Committee of Maharashtra in 2000, Phule Surekha has been developed from Jampa Improved variety by employing pure line selection. It is a semi-determinate variety. Its pods are straight flat with average length of 9.25 cm and breadth 1.07 cm. It is suitable for Kharif, rabi and summer seasons (Photo-thermo-insensitive). It is specifically bred for small edible pods as per the consumers' preference of westren Maharashtra, particularly Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara and Pune districts. It is resistant to anthracnose, leaf crinkle, bean yellow-mosiac virus and wilt (caused by stem fly attack).
