An evaluation was made for the estimation of correlation coefficients between yield and its component characters in parents +f1 and parents +F2 generations of wheat evaluated under normal (pH-8.00,ECe 1.04 dSm-1) and salinity (pH-8.50, ECe 6.40 dSm-1) conditions during rabi 2000-2001. Under normal condition, plant height, number of productive tillers/plant, grain weight/ear and 1000 grain weight showed significant positive correlation with grain yield while under salinity only number of productive tillers/plant had significant positive association at genotypic and phenotypic levels. However, correlation coefficients were in general stronger at genotypic level in comparison to phenotypic level in both the environments. Hence the above characters should be considered for selection.
