These are proceedings of the National Forestry Seminar held on 31st August 1988 at KEFRI. It was the first of the training activities undertaken by Kenya/Japan: Social Forestry Training Project. The seminar was to raise country-wide awareness of the need for social forestry development, emphasizing global trends, policies and policy measures, present situation and outstanding issues in social forestry. Five submitted papers have been included in these proceedings.
