Summary From 2000 to 2002, in the north area of Hyogo prefecture, avian infectious disease surveys in Aigamo ducks were performed in 4 farms [Farms S and F : in east area of north Tajima, C farm : in west area of north Tajima area, Farm W : north Tanba area]. The result showed that hemagglutination inhibition (HI) antibody titers against Newcastle disease virus (NDV) in Aigamoducks were ranged from 1:4 to 1:32 suggesting that they were infected with NDV. However no clinical signs were manifested. NDV (named Hyogo Aigamo/2002) was isolated from the feces of one duck in Farm T. Sequencing of F gene of the NDV isolated revealed that the Hyogo Aigamo/2002 strain was 94% similar to Ulster-2C/67 (Genotype I) and identifided to be a letogenic virus. In Farm T in which Aigamo duck NDV was isolated (and Aigamo ducks were fed with Japanese fowls), ND-HI antibody raised to the titer of 1:64. HI antibody against Eggdrop syndrome 1976 virus was detected in Farm T and neutralizing antibodies against avian pneumovirus were also detected in Farms T and S.
