This article is about the importance of forests to the country`s development. They play a crucial role in conservation of watersheds, preservation of the environment and in socio-economic development of the country. The article focuses on the Kenya Forestry Research Institutes' strategic plan, research and development programmes, implementation of research programmes, capacity and facilities, on-going projects, linking and networking, recent achievements, constraints, and the way forward.
