This paper present "a state of art" on production of fancy items in Kenya. It has briefly outlined sources of raw materials used in the industry in general, and laminated wood items in particular, some of the Institutions or organizations currentry involved in the production their state of knowledge and missing gaps are also mentioned. Emphasis has been given to the production procss by critically examining the principles and practices required in the production of acceptable items based on experience gained at the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI).
