At present, cold-type cowsheds are more often used in Latvia. However, during winter when temperatures are low, it is difficult to carry out the maintenance of milking installation appropriately because the liquid envisaged for washing cools too much and therefore becomes ineffective. This publication covers theoretical research describing cooling installation and working surface. For this purpose the theory of heat similarity is applied. The way of the flow of the milking installation washing liquid has been divided into four sections: I - milk pipe, II - washing liquid pipe, III - milking units, IV - other parts through which the washing liquid flows: milk collector, milk filter shell, washing liquid container etc. Section IV is the unknown quantity of the heat balance equation. As a result of research the equations have been obtained which allow finding out the amount of heat loss in separated sections of the washing system's main pipe. The obtained results can be used for the milking parlour equipment located in a separate parlour provided the washing of the milking equipment is a stationary heat transition process.
