Bacterial diseases of pigs in Lithuania

Bacteriological investigations were done with the aim to isolate pathogenic bacteria from pathological material of pigs. 176 strains of E. coli were isolated. The most widespread serotypes of E. coli were 0141:K85, 08:K87 and 0149:K91. 96 strains of Salmonella were isolated. 98% of isolated Salmonella depended to serovar S. Choleraesuis. Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and Pasteurella multocida were most common among respiratory pathogens. Infections caused by Staphylococcus and Streptococcus were also common.
