In this issue, I have focused on problems connected with obtaining the energy from wood-pulp. In order to produce energy, much wood-pulp is needed, but its regular supply causes big problems. As traditionally, much of low quality wood-pulp remains in cutting areas, although it is not possible to use it in most of the cases. Potential source of energy wood-pulp yield could be stands of fast-growing trees. Unfortunately, the cycle: plant - wood-pulp, longs 10-15 years. Regular yields of energy wood-pulp are possible also in Latvia by setting stands of selected osiers. It is possible to obtain a guaranteed amount of energy biomass from the osier stands yearly, they are not to be regenerated every year, and the vacant lands will also be used.
