Information on the diversity of Euphorbiaceae in small islands is still lacking although, Holthuis and Lam (1942) had enumerated 38 species from the Talaud and Moratai and Shaw (1982) reported 240 species from the Central Malesia (Celebes, Moluccas, Lesser Sunda Islands). Karimunjawa is one of the small islands in the northern Central Java. Enumeration of Gloristic diversity in those areas had been done by Teysmann (1854), Koorders (1886), Anonim (1991, 2002 and 2003), Efendi (1994), Pasiyan (1998). However, none of them had focused on the Euphorbiaceae. For that reason, a study of Euphorbiaceae diversity in Karimunjawa Island is highly needed. Twenty-eight species under 15 genera of Euphorbiaceae were encountered. Endospermum diadenum, E. malaccensis, and Margaritaria indica are new records for the Flora of Java.
