Tietze, M. | Szlachta, M.
The purpose of the studies was to examine the influence of superphosphate addition on physico-chemical and microbiological properties of a straw bedding in a sheep-house. The studies were carried out in 1997-99 in the experimental sheep-house in Uhrusk belonging to University of Agriculture in Lublin. The properties of the straw bedding were assessed during 21 months of studies. Humidity, temperature, pH, ammonia and urea levels as well as pathogenic microorganisms, moulds, yeasts, fungi, eggs and larvae of parasites were investigated in a control and experimental straw beddings. The latter was added with the granulated superphosphate. Superphosphate added into the straw bedding lowered its humidity by about 10 percent on average, changed its reaction from a basic to weakly acidic one, lowered ammonia and urea concentrations as well as the content of microorganisms, eggs and larvae of parasites
