Physical and morphological properties of fractionated traditional and self-completing white lupin (Lupinus albus L.) cultivar seeds
2001
Prusinski, J.
The study covers Bardo traditional and R-525 self-completing white lupin cultivar seeds obtained from a strict field experiment carried out. The sowing material of self completing cultivar was slightly less variable than that of the traditional one. Neither the fractionating of Bardo nor the fractionating of R-525 affected the share of abnormally germinating seeds significantly. Additionally, self-completing cultivar seeds fractionated showed similar germination and sprout length. A 0.50 mm increase in seed thickness resulted in a significant increase in the 1000-seed weight, seed density and vigour, sprout dry weight and in a decrease in the share of spotted seeds in the seed yield. The seed length, width and thickness, seed density and 1000 seed weight were positively correlated, while the shares of seed coat and of spotted seeds - negatively with final sprout weight
