Results of testing bulls breeding value
2004
In the April-September 2003 calving season Red Polish and Simmental sires and cows were evaluated by the multi-trait BLUP Animal Model. The cows calved in herds and herd-year-season subclasses (HYS). The number of HYS subclasses decreased in the both second and third lactation. The bulls of the Simmental breed were evaluted on the basis of the fattening and carcass value of their sons. Farm-produced feeds are mainly used in the controlled feeding. At 500 kg of net body weight, four sons from each progen group were slaughtered and their right-half carcasses dissected. The bulls are evaluated and ranked on the basis of two indexes: fattening and slaughter value and index meatness
