Rhizomes and young shoots of canna grown as germ plasm collection at the Gamma Irradiation Service and Nuclear Technology Research Center and at the Gamma Greenhouse were irradiated with gamma - rays at 15-30 Gy. Treated materials were planted and allowed to produce new shoots. Mutant plants with differing in flower colors from the original varieties were isolated and they were multiplied for observing phenotypic changes. Four mutants were found to be stable and they were multiplied to produce new varieties. These mutants were named according to the flower colors and the names of our researchers. They are Pink Peeranuch, Yellow Arunee, Orange Siranut and Cream Prapanpongse. These mutants will be registered and released to the growers for cultivation.
