Study on some characteristics for plant improvement in sweet corn 168 lines

Study of some useful characteristics of 168 varieties of sweet corn to findout the highest in both quantity and quality of hybrid corn. The corn were planted in single row in the amount of 15 plots per row, the distance between plots in row 50 centimeters and between rows was 75 centimeters, in the number of 2 seedling a plot. The experiment was conducted in the Rajamangala Institute of Technology, Nan Campus, started on June 10, and ended on August 30, 1997. The study found that: the hieght of tree was 105-186 centimeters; The hieght of pod was 32-85 centimeters, the time of opening of stamens was 45-62 days and the stigmas come out from the pod sheath was 50-61 days, the number of pod was 1-2 pods per tree, the weight of peeled pod was 75-280 gram per pod (640.05-2,389.53 kilogram per rai) number of sheath is about 5-17 sheaths per pod and the harvesting age was 67-75 days.
