Canopy position on fruit set, fruit quantity, fruit quality of mangosteen trees was conducted at orchard of Plant Science Department of RIT, Nakornsrithammarat Campus during May - September 1996. The experiment was used twenty-four years old of mangosteen trees. The experiment design was used randomized complete block design, composed with three treatments and four replications. The canopy position was classified with three parts (1) Bottom (2) Middle and (3) Top in each part seperated of four direction, West, North, East and South. The result of study showed that the middle part of canopy has the highest fruit weight followed with bottom and top by mean 2.00, 1.40 and 1.30 kg/pt. The average weight per fruit, edible part (aril), fruit size, the width of translucent and Total Soluble Solid (TSS) from each part and direction are not significant. The percentage of resin in aril and percentage of translucent in each part and direction ar not significant, but the data show that resin in aril and translucent are the lowest in the top and middle part of canopy.
