Studies on developmental variation of two Thai sugarcane variesties U-thong 2 and K84-200 were grown at Suphanburi Field Crops Research Center on April 1995. The shoot apex development, plastochron interval, phyllochron interval and number of leaves on main stem were illustrated. The results were indicated that the morphological of the apex of U-thong 2 was simply developed as leaf primordia in the early stage and progressively through floral primordia, floral structures and flowering while K84-200, the floral development could not expressed under this conditions. For U-thong 2, the plastochron and phyllochron interval were 6.58 and 6.59 days which faster than K84-200 in which the plastochron and phyllochron interval were 7.01 and 6.97 days. The number of leaves produced on main stem of U-thong 2 was 35.2 leaves which was less than those K84-200 (50 leaves). Linear relationship with times after sowing were detected for both plastochron and phyllochron intervals.
