Iran is the second biggest apricot producer with 280000 tons/year in the world and one of the main development region of apricot (Prunus armenica L.). In order to identification, collection and evaluation of apricot germplasm the study began in east Azarbajjan province of Iran in 1996. At this research 50 interesting cultivars and genotypes were collected and planted the base of augmented statistical design in Sahand Horticultural Reserach Station. The first results showed high genetical diversity between collected genotypes. Some superior cultivars in the collection can be presented as commercial cultivars. At this study 12 important pomological characters were recorded including ripening time, fruit size, fruit weight, Brix degree, fruit pH, skin color, fresh firmness, fruit shape, kernel taste, thickness of flesh, free of stone and date of flowering. The ripening time between genotypes was different (late June to September), it was possible to extend the harvest season. Fruit Brix was from 15 to 28%. So these cultivars are suitable for freshmarket and industrial applications. Fruit pH was from 3.05 to 5.14 and fruit weight from 21.3 to 67.3. The other fruit of 50 genotypes have been reported
