The area of the Vojvodina Province (Serbia and Montenegro) is 2,150,000 ha of which forest and non-forest greenery occupy 6.6% of the total area or 146,000 ha. According to this data, Vojvodina is in the category of the least afforested regions in Europe. In addition to such a low forest percent, the unfavourable factor is the fact that the largest forest complexes are located on the mountains Fruska Gora and Vrsac hill, on Deliblato Sands and Subotica-Horgos Sands, In Srem basin and along the innundations of the largest rivers in Vojvodina. The lowest forest percent is in zone of the intensive agricultural production, where the percent ranges 1 to 2%, and in many municipalities it is even below 1%.
