The situation and perspective of the high mountain tourism on the Balkan Peninsula

The natural geographic characteristics of the Balkan Peninsula (relief, climate, hydrography, flora and fauna) possess certain values that have its attractiveness and as such represent the natural tourist values. In spite of that, the relief as tourist value represents the basic areal part of physical geographic environement with varied purpose. The relief, in fact, connect the whole tourist activity (distribution of tourist demand, traffic infrastructure, tourist offer). The tourist value of the mountains is being shown through morphological, hydrological, climatic and bio geographical phenomena and processes. Starting from the world trends of tourism development where it has been noticed that the motivation of a potential tourist for choosing the tourist destination goes to the individualization, that is to the fullfilment the needs for recreation, adventure, fun, qualitative life, stay in the countryside, etc. we could seed that mountains represent very important element in the scope of the tourist demand. According to tourist functions mountains could be monovalent and polyvalent valence. They could also be defined as vocational, weeckend, sports and manifestational, health care treatment, height hunting areas, commemorative matches and national parks. By its height mountains could be short, medium and high. If we take altitude (over 2000 m), morphological characteristics.
