The parts of the monograph are Preface, Introduction, The state of beech forests in Serbia, and eight chapters, making an all-inclusive entity. Finally, instead of conclusions, there is a summary of all chapters, followed by a complete bibliography on beech in Serbia, and authors index. The Introduction is followed by the State of beech forests in Serbia. Beech is dominant in the growing stock in Serbia (50.4% per volume). Chapter one deals with taxonomy, ecology and plant communities of beech forests. Chapter two deals with beech variability and beech breeding. Chapter three deals with the parasitic fungi, insect pests, and dying of beech trees in Serbia. Chapter four covers silviculture, i.e. its three components: natural regeneration, establishment and tending of beech forestsreclamation of coppice beech forests and beech virgin forests. Chapter five refers to the utilization of beech forests, water in beech forests, hunting, as well as and multiple-use functions of beech forests. Chapter six deals with beech forest management planning. Chapter seven is devoted to anatomic structure, properties and processing of beech wood. Chapter eight presents the main economic parameters on beech in Serbia.
