The paper includes the investigations of the influence of mineral nutrition on the fertility of smonitza undergoing the process of degradation. The investigation was carried out on stationary field experimental plot with fertilizer application on the grounds of the Center for Small Grains in Kragujevac, Serbia. The experiment included control and eight fertilizer variants. Application of mineral fertilizers, especially those containing potassium and nitrogen applied at higher rates, lead to a significant increase of soil acidity. By fertilizer application the levels of humus, total nitrogen and available forms of phosphorus and potassium in the soil were increased. The highest content of mobile aluminium was found with the variant including only nitrogen fertilization, as well as with all variants including the higher nitrogen rate of 120 kg/ha. The content of available forms of Fe, Mn and Zn in the investigated soils was only partly dependent on the applied fertilizers, but was more the result of natural soil composition and the changes of pH values. The application of NP-fertilizers may represent the starting basis for introduction of self-sustainable development in wheat production on soils of the similar type within the Central Serbia region.
