The effect of increasing KCl doses on spring barley growth, accumulation of main mineral nutrients (N, P, K, Ca, Mg and Na) in main stalks, offshoots and roots, and on yield formation and its structure was studied. Root weight was negatively influenced by increased KCl doses, whereas the weight increase of aerial parts (mainly offshoots) was inhibited only at the beginning of the experiment. Among the studied variables, the accumulation of mineral nutrients in the whole plant was the most influenced by KCl application. K uptake raised by 37%. Kernel yield was non-significantly higher when KCl was applied. It was reached by increasing the number of offshoots, number and weight of kernels. The concentration of main mineral nutrients in kernels was not influenced but K concentration in straw was significantly increased.
