The overall objective of the Ethiopian Social Rehabilitation and Development Fund (ERDF) is to implement government policies aimed at poverty eradication. The chapter deals with issues related to this concern, particularly the government strategy and policy adopted to eradicate poverty. In response to the interest and needs of Ethiopian communities, a forum took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 15 January to 4 February 2002. Termed Ethio-Forum 2002, it had the following components: a conference with invited national and international experts, a series of workshops in which the forum themes were discussed with representatives of ESRDF from all Ethiopian regions, and an exhibition at which technologies were presented to a wide audience. the international experts who participated created an organization called Praxis Ethiopia to offer assistance to Ethiopian institutions in project preparation, execution and impact studies. The Prime Minister kindly accepted patronage for this organization.
