Molasses grass (Melinus minutiflora) was planted on 20 plots using a randomised complete block design at Bako Research Center in order to study the effect of different cutting intervals on herbage yield and quality of the fodder. Five cutting intervals were considered i.e., cutting at three, three and half, four, four and half, and five month's interval. Leaf dry matter (DM) yield and leaf to stem ratio were highest at three and half months, cutting interval at p% level of significance. In vitro digestibility of organic matter (OM) and (DM) tend to decline with increasing cutting interval. Thus three and half months cutting interval is recommended as an optimum time of harvest for molasses grass for better utilization at Bako and similar agro-ecological zones of Ethiopia.
