Injury of soybean caused by bean webworm, Pleuroptya ruralis, was investigated, related to the occurrence of characteristic leaf rolls. To clarify the influence of this worm, we set areas in which laval densities of the worm were regulated on same soybean field. The number of leaf rolls drastically increased between end of July and middle of August. Increasing number of leaf rolls, the grain yield was reduced by poor filling with loss of putative leaf area. These data suggested that bean webworm was potentially a kind of harmful insects to soybean, which injury would be concerned by decree of the leaf rolls occurrence. A possibility to forecast the injury at early stage of developing leaf rolls was further discussed.
