A new peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) variety "Jakwang" was developed from the cross between HYQ(CG)S-10 and Suwon 101 by the Yongnam Agricultural Research Institute(YARI) and Honam Agricultural Research Institute(HARI) in 2003. This variety has Shinpung type and erect growth habit with large obovate dark green leaves. This had 14 branches number per plant, 39 cm of the height of the main axis, and 41 cm of the length of primary branches. "Jakwang" had two kernels with purple testa color in each pod and its 100-kernel weight was 93 g.
