Meteorological characteristics of hilly apple orchards located in Sangri- (321-405 m elevation) and Hari-myeon (135-224 m elevation), Yecheon-gun, Gyeongbuk, Korea were examined. Mean air temperature was maintained lower in higher altitude orchards (405 m elevation) from August to September 10, but this tendency became ambiguous due to pronounced fluctuation thereafter. Higher altitude orchards showed lower maximum air temperature from August to late October, while minimum air temperature was higher after mid August, indicating the formation of the thermal belt.
