Stubble sowing by pointed, single disc and double disc coulters with straw purifier and without them was investigated in the article. The influence of straw gathering and soil preparation for sowing upon soil hardness during sowing and plant vegetation period was investigated. After sowing the amount of straws in notches, amount of sprouts, and yield were established. Straws chopped and spread on soil surface, under dry weather conditions, reduces loam soil hardness in sowing depth from 1400 kPa to 600-700 kPa. When the soil is wet, the influence of straws upon soil hardness is insignificant. During plant vegetation period, soil hardness in all sowing versions increased, when soil moisture content was constant. Soil hardness influences insertion of straws into sowing notch by coulters, though influence is different using pointed and disc sowing coulters. Straw purifiers in front of sowing coulters reduce the amount of straw inserted in sowing notch from 2.3 to 6.2 times.
