2005
Bratka, V.
Since 2004 Latvia is fully-fledged member of the European Union and the Treaty of Accession, signed at the end of 2002, fixed general principles of accession. From other side on June 26, 2003 the Council of Agriculture Ministers of the European Union reached an agreement on a fundamental reform of the common agricultural policy CAP. Both these circumstances are expected to have a significant effect on the future of Latvian agricultural producers and on their competitiveness in the common European market. Latvian State Institute of Agrarian Economics has carried out a study with the purpose to estimate the effect of the said two processes on the agricultural sector as a whole applying methodology of economic accounts foe agriculture EAA and simulation model LASIM, but on individual farm groups - statistic economic model SEMS. The present paper describes possible reform implementation scenarios and presents the quantitative assessment of enlargement and CAP reform for farm groups applying SEMS model, model methodological background and basic principles.
