In the present studies effects of cadmium intoxication were studied on a farmedfish Labeo rohita. The acute and chronic exposures were carried out. In acute phasethere were four groups. Group A acted as control while B, C and D received 60, 70and 80 mg/lit of CdCl2 21/2H2O; in chronic phase, the fish were exposed to 35mg/lit. of toxicant for 16 days. The cadmium effects were studied onhistopathological changes in muscle and kidney. The muscle showed degeneration, splitting and loss of striations while in the kidney there was degeneration anddisintegration of renal tubules, dilation of tubular lumen, disintegration ofglomerulus's, leucocytes infiltration and necrosis. These changes were proportionateto dose and time of exposure.
