The research was carried out soils and vegetation of the meadow of the overlow land (polder) in Odra valley on Bytom Odrzanski area. 10 investigation points of meadow plants community differed in species composition was chosen. In selected points plant communities were examined and probes of plants were taken. Then soil profiles were made, soil types were defined and soil samples were taken from depts: 0-5 cm, 5-10 cm, 15-20 cm. Layer 0-5 cm was divided into 2 parts, upper 1-3 cm depth with alluvial deposits of 1997 flood and bottom covered others layers. Mean concentrations of iron in the soil layers 0-20 cm ranged from 1.1 to 2.7 percent and those of manganese were in the range 295-855 mg/kg. Plant material examined in this study contained iron in concentrations varying from 14 to 380 mg/kg and manganese - from 33 to 380 mg/kg. Low Fe/Mn ratio in plant material indicates iron deficiency and excessive manganese content. Improper Fe/Mn ratio resulted probably from high soil acidity (pH less 5.5) as well as from insufficient soil aeration
