The studies analysed 9.486 litters of gilts of six reproductive breeds kept in the Lubelszczyzna region in the years 2000-02. The studies considered the number of piglets born alive, the number of piglets on 21 days of life, the mean number of breasts, the age at first farrowing and the interlitter period length. The highest fecundity was shown by gilts of the PLW breed (11.68 in 2000, 11.64 in 2001 and 11.64 in 2002). The highest calculated heterosis coefficients referring to the piglets born in a litter was 16.64 percent in 2000 and occurred in Hampshire gilts mated with Pietrain boars. A positive heterosis coefficient was established in the litters after the PLW gilts mated PL boars and the PL gilts mated with PLW boars at the examined period. A negative coefficient was stated when Pietrain gilts were mated with Duroc boars (-3.43 percent in 2000, -7.70 percent in 2001 and -9.27 percent in 2002). Also, a negative heterosis coefficient was recorded in the litters after mating Pulawska gilts and PLW boars in 2001 when it resulted to -2.09 percent, and after mating Duroc gilts with Pietrain boars (-2.62 percent in 2002)
