Study on the area characteristics of cattle barns I. For free stall rearing in individual pens
2007
Dinev, D.
Six project solutions of real cattle barns in Bulgaria with a capacity from 100 to 620 places were compared in this study on the basis of their most important area and technological characteristics. Some of them were reconstructed old buildings and others were newly built. It was found that the best characteristics concerning the total and relative built-up area per cow were the new buildings with a large capacity (500-600 cows) and with a six-row distribution of the individual pens. Worst and uneconomical on the same characteristics were the reconstructed buildings and those with smaller capacity and restricted number of rows of individual pens.
