An investigation includes 152 samples of ingredients and compound feed for poultry and pigs. The mean content of f mercury or feed ingredients is 0.0002 ppm, with range from 0 to 0.009 ppm. The mean content of mercury for compound feed (total) is 0.001 ppm. The highest is mercury content for pigandrsquo;s compound feed – mean 0.002 ppm. The average content of mercury in the principal feed ingredients and compound feed for swine and poultry, that are currently used in our country, is several times lowest than the maximum allowed limits. This means that practically, the monitoring of this element should not be performed the same way as, for example, for lead and cadmium. The control of feed ingredients should comprise all components, including trace components such as mineral, vitamin and other supplements.
