[Results and perspectives of breeding new sweet cherry varieties in Bryansk region]

On the basis of long-term research the intraspecific and ecotype diversity of 200 sweet cherry accessions has been estimated on winter hardiness. Breeding this crop is difficult due to the dominance of low tree and flower buds winter hardiness combined with small fruits. It is necessary to take into account correspondence of testing zone climate to plant biorhythms for selecting initial forms. Initial forms increasing winter hardiness and fruit mass have been recommended
