Research results of Cladocera community structure and species distributions in pelagian zone and in open and overgrown by different types of higher aquatic vegetation places of the littoral zone of lakes of different type were presented. Altogether in the studied ponds there were found 47 cladoceran species. The major part (30) of the observed species belonged to Chydoridae family. The comparative analysis showed that statistically sufficient differences in cladoceran community structure according to species number were noted only between the littoral biotopes (higher) and pelagian lakes (lesser). Distribution of single species was evaluated according to the ratio between cladoceran inhabitance in the concrete biotopes and cladoceran total number in all studies biotopes. Complex of 8 species (Diaphanosoma branchyurum, Sida crystallina, Acroperus harpae, Alona rectangula, Alonella nana, Pleuroxus aduncus, P. truncatus, Monospilus dispar) distribution of which was specific for several biotopes was singled out with the help of cluster analysis by means of the sequential exclusion of species which were equally presented in different biotopes. According to cluster analysis data there were found considerable differences in cladoceran distribution in diffeent biotopes. For example, in the open littoral zone part of all species was rather small (18%) except for M. dispar (100%). Research results proved that brushwood density did not exercise influence on species allocation
