Estudio de un grupo de líneas y variedades de arroz (Oryza sativa) en los suelos turbosos de la Ciénaga de Zapata.

Español; castellano. El día 10 de mayo de 1975 se comenzaron estudios para el mejoramiento del arroz en los suelos turbosos de la Ciénaga de Zapata al sur de Amarillas en la provincia de Matanzas. Se sembraron dos colecciones: una para evaluar las características agronómicas y la otra para evaluar la reacción al tizón de la hoja en camas de infección, según metodología de Ou (1965) modificada; se evaluó la resistencia al tizón de la hoja causado por Piricularia oryzae Cav. en la Ciénaga de Zapata. Así también el vigor vegetativo, porte de la planta, capacidad productiva, cristalinidad de los granos y resistencia al cuello roto, necrosis foliar y granos manchados. En la Estación Experimental “Niña Bonita', se evaluó la resistencia a hoja blanca, y a Sogatodes oryzicola Muir. Se seleccionaron: la variedad 'Caribe-l' y las lineas 'PNA 12-24-1-2-6' y 'PNA 12-24-2-2-4' para estudiarse en ensayos replicados durante las dos campañas de 1976. Se compararon con la variedad 'IR-880' utilizada como testigo, debido a que es la cultivada en la zona. Se recomendó. a) La intensificación de estudios para seleccionar progenitores donadores de la resistencia al tizón y estudiar sus progenies en las condicionen ambientales de la Ciénaga. b) La aplicación de planes de desinfección de la especie Oryza perennis Moench, la cual se ha extendido por las áreas cenagosas incorporadas al cultivo del arroz Oryza sativa. c) Mejorar la resistencia de la variedad 'Caribe-1'

Inglés. The 10th of May of 1975 studies started for the breeding of rice in the turbid soils of the Ciénaga de Zapata, south of Amarillas in the province of Matanzas. Two collections were sowed: one to evaluate the agronomical characteristics and the other to evaluate the reaction to the blast of the leave in the beds of: infection, according to the modified Ou methodology (1965), the resistance to the blast of the leave produced by Piricularia oryzae Cav. was evaluated, in the Ciénaga de Zapata. The vegetative vigorness, the portage of the plant, productive capacity, cristalinity of the grains, resistance to broken neck, bacterial leaf and spotted grains were evaluated too. In The Experimental Station 'Niña bonita' was evaluated the resistance to white leave and Sogatodes oryzicola Muir. The varieties 'Caribe-1' and the lines 'PNA-12-24-1-2-6' were selected to be studied in replicated tests during the two compains of 1976, they were compared with the variety 'IR-880-C9' that was used as a patron, because this variety is grown in the zone. It was recommended: a) The intensification of the studies to select progenitors that donates the resistance to blast and study its progeny in the ambiental conditions of the Ciénaga. b) To aplicate plans of disinfection of the species Oryza perennis Moench that has extended through the muddy areas that are now incorporated to the cultural of the rice Oryza sativa. c) The breeding of the resistance of the variety 'Caribe-1'.
