Collection and identification of the important natural enemies of Bemisia tabaci and determining their role in the pest control

This study was carried out in 2001- 2002 ,in different cotton growing area of Iran. Infested leaves of cotton to Bemisia tabaci were collected periodically from different regions and put in petridishes with 10 centimeters diameter. After one month the emerging adults of B.tabaci and its probable parasitoids were counted and the rate of parasitism was determined,also in 2002 the rate of parasitism in chemical treated field and check was compared and the rate of parasitism in egg plants was calculated in Golestan province.In addition to parasitoids the main predators of B. tabaci were identified in this survey.The result showed that Eretmocerus mundus is the main parasitoid of B. tabaci followed by Encarsia lutea and En.inaron in Golestan province .In 2001 the max parasitism of B. tabaci was seen in Gonbad with 28.02 % and the min was 6.96 in Anbar ollum (Agh ghala) and the average was 16.29% in the five sampled regions in the province. In 2002 the max parasitism was observed in Gorgan with 32.215 and the min was 21.8% in Gonbad and the average was 27.55 . the ratr of parasitism in chemical treated field was about 10 % less than untreated one ,and there was no significant difference in the parasitism of B. tabaci between cotton and egg plants. In Fars province (Darab) The identified parasitoids were Er. mundud ,En. lutea, En. adriana, En.inaron, Azotus sp. and Amitus sp.,The max parasitism in 2001-02 was 93 % and 95% respectively.In Tehran (Varamin) the most important parasitoids were Er. mundus and En. lutea. The range of parasitism was between 8.3 –38 % in 2001 and11.5 –39.6 in 2002.In khorasan (kashmar) the genus Encarsia and Eretmocerus were identified as parasitoids of B.tabaci The predators of B.tabaci which identified in this study belong to following orders and families: Hemiptera:miridae,anthocoridae,lygaeidar,nabidae Colloptera:Coccinellidae , staphylinidae,Neuroptera:Chrysopidae Heteroptera:Miridae,Nabidae, Anthocorhdae, lygaeidae Thysanoptera:thripidae,hymenoptera:formicidae
