Studies on calculation of number and height of circuli of fish scale by statistical methods

Periodic rings such as annual ring or circuli, deposit on fish scale and they have utilized to research the age, the maturity level of growth, physiological factor, the changes in living condition, etc. In order to improve researching reliability, it is important that a lot of the scales should be collected and analyzed automatically. If the circuli profile is detected mechanically and the data being collected are analyzed numerically, it will become to research the characteristic of fishes in easy and in short time and then to increase the reliability of the estimation. In this study, practical and useful processing techniques to analyze the number or the height of circuli profile are presented.
