Preliminary investigation on three extraction methods of phenolic compounds from olive mill wastewater

Inglés. The main byproduct of olive oil processing is a mill wastewater, which is characterized by high concentration of phenolic substances (currently polyphenols). In this paper, the isolation of such substances from olive mill wastewater, by different methods, was tested and discussed. Particularly, solid-phase extraction and liquid-liquid methods were compared, in which two different procedures are illustrated for the last method. Quantification of phenolic and o-diphenolic substances in the extracts was performed by the traditional Folin-Ciocalteau method and the sodium molybdate reaction, respectively. The evaluation of their effectiveness was based on thin layer chromatography (TLC). Furthermore, the traces relative to phenolic compounds in the extracts were carried out and the tentative identification of six peaks was carried out by HPLC with diode array (DAD) and mass spectrometry detection (MSD)
Mostrar más [+] Menos [-]Italiano. Il principale sottoprodotto della lavorazione dell'olio di oliva è l'acqua di vegetazione, che è caratterizzata da un'elevata concentrazione di sostanze fenoliche. In questa ricerca alcune di queste sostanze sono state isolate con differenti metodi. In particolare, sono state confrontate l'estrazione in fase solida e il metodo liquido-liquido; per quest'ultimo metodo sono state identificate differenti procedure. La quantificazione dei fenoli e degli o-difenoli negli estratti è stata effettuata con il tradizionale metodo del Folin-Ciocalteau e con la reazione del sodio molibdato. La valutazione della loro efficacia è stata effettuata con la cromatografia su strato sottile. Inoltre, si è proceduto a identificare i composti fenolici presenti negli estratti mediante HPLC-DAD e spettrometria di massa (MSD)
