We studied the effects of activated carbon on both the nitrate nitrogen content and the tobacco seedling growth improvement in direct-seeding float system. Contents of nitrate nitrogen and EC value in nutrient solution with activated carbon were showed a decrease as compared with control, whereas ammonium nitrogen still remained. Treatment of activated carbon leaded to the increase of potassium and magnesium ions in nutrient solution. It also accompanied the increase of calcium ions at 10 days after germination, and then was likely to non-treated control at 30 days.
