The objective of the work was to compare the efficiency of an injected ferric preparation (Suiferrovit) and preparation applied per os (Lactifer) in piglets' rearing. The experiment was carried out on 15 litters of PL breed piglets divided randomly into 3 treatment groups. The sows in loose and early gestation period were fed grain mixtures supplemented with protein concentrates. The piglets from all the groups were given full feed mixtures type prestarter till 12 kg body weight was reached. The feedstuff for each productive group met the nutritional requirements of animals and was in compliance with the feeding-standards of pigs (1993).The three-day-old piglets from group I were immunized with a ferric preparation Suiferrovit - an inactivated pig serum supplemented with iron dextran, microelements and B-complex vitamins. Group II was provided with a ferric preparation Lactifer ad libitum on 3-10 days of their life. The powder preparation was placed on trays. The piglets of group III (control) did not get any ferric preparations. The productive effects were determined by recording piglet body weight at birth and post-weaning, falls, health state and number of piglets. Samples of piglet blood taken on 21 day of life was collected from 2 litters of each treatment. The analyses included the following blood hematology indicators: percent Ht, RBC and WBC number, Hb content and leucogram. The Fe and Cu content, concentration of Glu, Choi, TG, HDL and LDL as well as the activity of ALT, AST and AP were determined in blood serum. The results were analysed statistically. No significant influence was noted concerning the way of preparation administration, i.e. oral or injected, on indicators of the lipid and protein profiles in piglets. Both ways of ferric preparation administration, oral and intramuscular, successfully prevent mortality and physiologic anemia in the piglets up to 21 day of life
