Effects of different soil tillage systems on some soil physical properties and yield of maize in monoculture
2005
Czyz, E.A.
The paper shows the results for soil physical properties (soil bulk density, water content, soil temperature) in the 0-25 cm layer in the three different tillage systems: traditional, reduced and direct sowing. Significant effects of tillage systems on soil bulk density, soil temperature and grain yield of maize were found. The value of soil bulk density, mean of three years, was the highest with direct drilling (1.58 Mg/cubic m), lower with reduced tillage (1.39 Mg/cubic m), and the lowest with conventional tillage (1.24 Mg/cubic m). The value of yield of maize, mean of three years, ranged between 63.1 to 69.8 dt/ha, was negatively correlated with soil bulk density
