The paper contains the results of a study conducted for the purpose of estabilishing whether an addition of powdered seed cover of buckwheat achenes to wheat grain would have any effect on the foraging activity and number of individuals in the offspring generation of Sitophilus granarius. The development of the pest insect was examined on grain of cv. Sakwa wheat, to which powered seed cover of buckwheat was added in three concentrations: 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 percent. The results of the present experiment sugest that the seed cover of buckwheat, especially cv. Kora, may contain substances which stimulate the development of S. granarius
