The research aimed at determining the occurrence of entomopathogenic fungi in the soil on which buckwheat was cultivated in monoculture and in crop rotation. In order to carry out a comparison, the soils from arable field and meadow situated next to the field were tested. The occurrence of fungi was determined by means of the bait insects method. The test insects were the larvae of Galleria mellonella L. Three species of dominating fungi were identified on the dead bait insects: Metarhizium anisopliae, Beauveria bassiana and Paecilomyces fumosoroseus. The temperature significantly influenced the species composition. The smallest number of the fungi was observed in the soil from the buckwheat cultivation in monoculture, the largest from the cultivated field
